International Congress of Young Booksellers

About ICYB

ICYB stands for International Congress of Young Booksellers.

It’s the most inspiring congress ever for booksellers – especially young ones – for nearly 60 years!

The annual conference is held in a different country every year, and it gathers enthusiastic and dedicated young booksellers from many countries (young at age or just young at heart).

While the purpose of  ICYB is to provide training in a specific issue, it also acts as a forum for young booksellers from a variety of backgrounds to share experiences of their trade and establish invaluable international contacts for both professional and personal development. Another function of ICYB is to collect and disseminate material on training, exchange programs, and trade organisations.

Each year the Booksellers’ International Book of the Year (BIBY) is chosen. The annual ICYB journal, the Fellow, which essentially consists of daily reports written by participants during the conference, is mailed out to our database in October.

ICYB has an executive committee consisting of present, vice, past and incoming presidents and congress organisers, and an elected council of country representatives, the Fellow Secretaries. The executive meets with the IBF, and has its own council meeting, at the Frankfurt Book Fair.

Together we can make a difference in the book trade.

Partake, ask, question, comment, socialise, befriend, learn, teach, advance… and be passionate.
Come and join us at ICYB to become a good bookseller and even better!
